Princess Ksenija Highway sees nearly 2 million vehicles in 2025, key section features bridges and tunnels

Since the beginning of this year, 1.97 million vehicles have traveled on the Princess Ksenija Highway, according to Monteput data.

Traffic on the highway totaled 2.87 million vehicles in 2024, 2.29 million in 2023, and 1.14 million in 2022.

The priority section of the Bar-Boljare Highway was officially opened on July 13, 2022, and opened to traffic the following day. Toll fees started after the first seven free days: €1.50 for motorcycles, €3.50 for passenger cars, and €17 for trucks and buses.

The first section spans 41.5 kilometers and includes 20 mainline bridges, nine ramp bridges, two overpasses, eight underpasses, 7.2 kilometers of concrete walls, and 16 twin-tube tunnels.

There are four interchanges with toll stations—Smokovac, Pelev Brijeg, Veruša, and Mateševo—connecting the highway to existing roads. The maximum speed limit is 100 km/h.
