The Port of Bar handled approximately 684,330 tonnes of cargo during the first six months of 2026, representing a 19% decline from the same period last year.
Cargo throughput reached 849,140 tonnes in the first half of 2025, according to the port management’s latest business report.
The company had planned to handle 1.01 million tonnes between January and June 2026. Actual throughput therefore reached only 67.59% of the target set in its annual business plan.
The report showed that volumes declined across every major cargo category compared with the corresponding period last year.
Dry bulk cargo continued to account for most of the port’s activity, with around 540,000 tonnes handled during the six-month period. Liquid cargo contributed a further 133,930 tonnes, while general cargo amounted to just 10,420 tonnes.
The weaker results highlight the operational challenges facing Montenegro’s largest commercial port, which ended the first half of the year substantially below both its previous performance and planned cargo volume.
