The “Velje Brdo” project in Podgorica is progressing, with the city’s spatial and urban plan establishing public interest for property expropriation.

The development covers a total area of 912 hectares, including 450 hectares designated for residential, commercial, recreational, cultural, educational, and healthcare facilities. Green spaces will occupy 393 hectares, with the remainder allocated to roads. Construction will be carried out in phases.

A new sewage system is planned to handle household, public, and commercial wastewater, including separation and treatment before discharge, with temporary local treatment facilities to maintain ecological standards until the central system is operational.

As the area lacks an existing water supply network, a new primary and secondary distribution system will be constructed, connected to the Mareza water source. For the first phase, 10% of Mareza’s capacity will be used during periods of low city demand, with a new reservoir, “Velje Brdo 1,” planned at elevation 140 meters.
