More than 40,000 tourists are staying in Montenegro, which is 18 percent more compared to the same period last year, the National Tourism Organization (NTO) announced. The representative of the NTO, Milena Vujović, told the Mina-business agency that, if compared to 2019, we are recording a growth of 43 percent.

She explained that it is about the data that local tourism organizations submitted to the NTO on May 18th about the realized tourist traffic in the municipalities.

“When it comes to the most visited municipalities, Budva is in first place, followed by Herceg Novi and Bar, but also Tivat, Kotor and Podgorica are recording a significant increase in the number of tourists this year,” stated Vujović.

She said that almost all parameters of tourist traffic, both indirect and direct, show growing trends.
“That is what we base our high expectations on for this summer tourist season,” Vujović added.
Also, announcements in hotels are at an excellent level for the coming months.

“For example, when we talk about those indirect revenues from tourist traffic, according to the data of the National Parks (NPCG), since the beginning of the year we have recorded somewhere around twice as many tickets sold for the NPCG,” specified Vujović.

She stated that the data is excellent and their expectations for this summer season are quite high.
“During the summer tourist season, the largest number of tourists gravitate around the coast. Bearing that in mind, we have put special emphasis in the past period on the promotion of some appetizers that are less frequented during the summer tourist season. I am primarily thinking of the north of Montenegro, but also of the central part,” said Vujović. She stated that, considering that the attendance in some areas was at a record level last year, they believe that such trends will continue in the coming period.

“When it comes to the structure of tourists, current data show that the largest number of tourists is from the region, almost like every year, but in addition to them we really have a large number of tourists from the markets of Germany, Austria, France, Great Britain, Poland and Turkey”, she specified is Vujović.

Observing since the beginning of the year, we also have, as she added, a significant increase in the number of tourists from China, but also from the Czech Republic, the Netherlands and Denmark.
When asked about promotional activities and their impact on the increase in the number of tourists, Vujović replied that the NTO continuously conducts media study visits.

“At the beginning of the year, we target markets that are important for this season, and we intensify promotional activities in that direction.” It is extremely important to be present in the media in important markets, and this year we had a large number of such study visits,” Vujović explained.
She stated that they also had studio visits by influencers, because it is important to be present on social networks.

“Right behind us is the study visit of influencers from Slovenia, then journalists from Slovenia, and in the coming period we are also expecting a group of influencers from Serbia,” announced Vujović. As she said, these are just some of the activities when it comes to those study visits. “Certainly, in the coming period, we are expecting numerous studio visits by the media from the German market and some other markets that are important to us for this season,” concluded Vujović.
