Montenegro’s total foreign trade in goods reached €3.69 billion in the first nine months of the year, up 6.1% compared to the same period in 2024, according to preliminary data from Monstat.
Exports amounted to €412.9 million, a 4.7% decrease year-on-year, while imports rose by 7.6% to €3.28 billion. The export-to-import coverage ratio dropped to 12.6%, down from 14.2% in the previous year.
Mineral fuels and lubricants dominated exports at €105.7 million, including €75.3 million in electricity. Machinery and transport equipment led imports, totaling €797.8 million, of which €308.6 million were road vehicles.
Serbia was Montenegro’s largest trading partner for both exports (€109.2 million) and imports (€566.9 million), followed by Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia for exports, and China and Germany for imports.
Most of Montenegro’s trade was conducted with CEFTA member countries and the European Union.
