Montenegro’s average loan interest rates fall slightly in June, CBCG reports

The average weighted effective interest rate on total approved loans, which includes all related costs, fell by 0.03 percentage points in June to 6.31%, according to data from the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG).

The average weighted nominal interest rate on total approved loans also dropped by 0.03 percentage points to 5.78%.

For newly approved loans, interest rates increased in June: the effective rate rose by 0.12 percentage points to 5.97%, and the nominal rate by 0.04 percentage points to 5.44%.

In the microfinance sector, the effective interest rate on total approved loans fell by 0.07 percentage points to 20.73%, while the nominal rate decreased by 0.06 points to 18.64%. For newly approved microloans, the effective rate declined by 0.1 points to 20.78%, and the nominal rate by 0.11 points to 18.66%.

The average weighted effective interest rate on deposits was 0.27% in June, down 0.01 points from May.

The spread between active and passive interest rates stood at 6.04 percentage points in June, slightly lower than in May.
