The Mayor of Bijelo Polje, Petar Smolović, welcomed the announcement of Mohamed Alabbar, one of the world’s most renowned real estate investors, visiting northern Montenegro, emphasizing that “all reputable investors are welcome in Bijelo Polje.”

Smolović expressed readiness to engage with investors, stating, “Mr. Alabbar, like any other reputable investor, is welcome in northern Montenegro, especially in Bijelo Polje. We are ready to explore the investors’ needs and match them with our potential for the benefit of the local community.”

Discussing the potential impact of such investments, Smolović stressed that the key goal is the valorization of both natural and human resources. “The primary goal of all serious investments is the valorization of the natural and human potential of Bijelo Polje and northern Montenegro, especially the Bjelasica mountain range, which spans five municipalities,” he said.

Commenting on the signing of economic cooperation and tourism and real estate development agreements between Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates, Smolović emphasized the importance of involving local communities. “Any international agreement should first be aligned with local communities, followed by a transparent public debate to reach broad consensus at both local and national levels, fully respecting legislation and good international practices,” Smolović noted.

He also highlighted the need for a fast and efficient public administration that does not hinder investments while maintaining transparency and equal conditions for all investors. “Strategic investors expect a swift and efficient public administration. This should be transparently communicated to the public, ensuring that all potential investors are treated equally and placed in the same starting position to maximize benefits for the local community and the budget,” Smolović added.

In closing, Smolović sent a clear message to potential investors: “We have interesting projects not only for investors from the Emirates but also for serious investors from other destinations. We are open for discussions and support within the legal framework. Whoever completes the projects on Bjelasica and Đalovića Cave and activates the airport in Berane will determine the development of not just the north, but all of Montenegro,” Smolović concluded.
