Montenegro records 0.5% monthly inflation, driven by food, housing and services

In August, consumer prices in Montenegro rose by 0.5% compared to July, and were 4.6% higher than in August 2024, according to MONSTAT.

Key contributors to monthly inflation included higher prices for vegetables, accommodation services, meat, solid fuels, fruit, rents for primary residences, dairy products, oils, and fats.

From January to August, average consumer prices increased by 3.6% compared to the same period last year.

By category, notable monthly increases were recorded in restaurants and hotels (2.4%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.3%), household furniture and maintenance (1.1%), housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (0.9%), health (0.4%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.3%), and recreation and culture (0.3%).

Price decreases were observed in clothing and footwear (3.4%), transport (0.3%), other goods and services (0.2%), and communications (0.1%).
