Montenegro has ensured financial stability and sustainability for the next period as well, announced the Minister of Finance Aleksandar Damjanović, stressing that the intention is to continue in that direction.
He stated that the intention is to work on improving the standard of living by strengthening the economy, strategic planning, rational consumption, stability and necessary structural reforms.
Damjanović and the Governor of the Central Bank (CBCG) Radoje Žugić, as part of the annual session of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB), met with the Executive Director of the IMF Paul Hilbers, his deputy Luka Drese and the Director of the Sector for Europe in Alfred Kamer to the IMF.
Damjanović said that he was satisfied with the latest IMF economic growth forecasts, according to which Montenegro, which achieved a growth of 4.5%, ranked first in relation to European countries when it comes to economic growth for this year.
During the open and constructive dialogue, he thanked the leaders of the IMF for the reliable partnership they have with Montenegro so far.
Žugić presented the latest indicators of banking operations in Montenegro, which confirm that this sector is stable, healthy and without significant vulnerabilities. It was pointed out that potential risks arising from the global economic and geopolitical situation should be carefully monitored.
In this regard, and starting from the extraordinary cooperation in the previous period, the support of the IMF was agreed on the improvement of interest rate risk management and the minimization of potential vulnerabilities in the area of prevention of money laundering and financing of terrorism.
