Montenegro plans to build a state data center

Montenegro is planning to build a state data center, therefore the decision to prepare a feasibility study was adopted.

In the information that was adopted by the Government, it is stated that, in order to provide the necessary preconditions for the further digital transformation of Montenegrin society, it is necessary to start planning activities for the construction of the State Data Center, which would represent a unique complex for the complete state administration built in accordance with all international standards related to data centers, information and cyber security.

Although the goal is to build one facility with sufficient capacity for the needs of all state institutions, the state data center could be segmented and provide the organization of special rooms for those institutions that have specific security requirements – the announcement states.

The government tasked the Ministry of Public Administration to prepare a feasibility study on the need for the construction of the State Data Center, which will predict the optimal financing model, and the Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning and Urbanism, in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Administration and local self-governments, to review the most optimal spatial planning possibilities for choosing a location and the construction of this center.
