Montenegro nears EU accession milestone with expected closure of public procurement chapter

Finance Minister Novica Vuković will attend today’s Intergovernmental Conference between Montenegro and the European Union (EU) in Brussels, where the closure of Chapter 5 – Public Procurement is expected.

“This is the first chapter under the Ministry of Finance’s jurisdiction that Montenegro will close after 13 years, since the start of the negotiation process,” the Ministry of Finance announced.

By closing this chapter, Montenegro will make another significant step forward in the EU accession negotiations. The Ministry of Finance, as the lead institution for Chapter 5, will receive strong confirmation that it meets the requirements for managing public funds in accordance with the best European practices.
