The construction of the waterworks on Luštica, as one of the most significant projects in the territory of Herceg Novi Municipality, should begin in 15 days.
As the director of Herceg Novi Boro Water Supply and Sewerage Company Lučić told RTHN, the company Eurozox from Danilovgrad was chosen as the contractor, and two months ago the President of the Municipality, Stevan Katic, signed a contract with them for work worth around EUR 10 million.
It is a big project. As the former director of the Agency for Construction and Development of Herceg Novi, I had the opportunity to participate in the design, then as the director of the Public Works Administration to include it in the Government’s capital budget and to call for a tender, and now as the director of the Waterworks to wait for the construction of the water supply network in Luštica. In this project, I combined all three phases of design, financing and now construction – reminded Lučić.

The contractor Eurozox was officially introduced to the business last Friday. The construction books are open, so we expect the works to start in the next 15 days. A construction site is being opened in Luštica, to deliver machines and equipment. It is indeed a large capital project with an estimated value of less than 10 million EUR, as one of the largest in water infrastructure in the last 50 years in Herceg Novi – said Lučić.
Solving the issue of water supply is one of the basic prerequisites for the overall development of Luštica in the municipality of Herceg Novi. The important thing is that this project will solve not only the water supply of villages, households, settlements on Luštica, but also for everything that is planned, the construction of new hotels and resorts. With this project, we will solve the issue of water supply in Luštica in the next 50 to 100 years – he added.
The project was demanding because there is a big imbalance in water consumption between the locals who live in Luštica all year round and the needs in the tourist season, when there are significantly more consumers.
With the project, that issue has been considered and resolved, and we hope to start the works in the next 15 days or so. The contractor will not interrupt the work during the summer tourist season and they expect that the construction of the complete water supply network in Luštica will be completed, as predicted, in 18 months – Lučić expects.
We remind you that during the previous three years, the Municipality of Herceg Novi prepared project documentation, completed numerous expropriation processes, issued a building permit, and submitted the project for the capital budget of the state. It is a project that will solve the issue of water supply for the new part of the peninsula for the first time in history.
