The news that the famous Island of Flowers in the Boka Kotor Bay is for sale has spread around the region, but its fate will still remain unknown since it is not for sale, but the island right next to it. Last year, according to Podgorica Vijesti, the largest island of Boka, Stradioti, better known as Sveti Marko, ended up in the hands of a company from Malta, and now it is for sale again.

“There was a misunderstanding, the Island of Flowers is not for sale, but the island of Sveti Marko. It is for sale in its entirety, and according to my knowledge, the price is around 80 million euros. In any case, it is one of the most important resources available to Montenegro and it would be a great flywheel for the entire tourist economy. It used to be an extremely popular resort and the island of Sveti Marko was highly positioned on the tourist map of the Mediterranean and a real attraction for tourists,” Željko Komnenović, the president of the municipality of Tivat, told Rina.
Before the company from Malta, the island of Sveti Marko was owned by the Russian group Metropol for about 15 years. Despite the big plans when it comes to the construction of tourist infrastructure, primarily luxury complexes, none of it has been realized, so the revival of this exclusive location is still waiting.

The Island of Sveti Marko covers almost 340,000 square meters and is considered by many to be a true untouched natural paradise. On it there is a great wealth of Mediterranean forest, olive groves, but also very important archaeological sites.
