The Government of Montenegro has formally designated a set of international air routes from Podgorica as being of public interest under a Public Service Obligation (PSO) framework covering the period from 1 June 2026 to 31 May 2030. This decision, adopted at a government session in late February 2026, places six key connections on a subsidised or otherwise supported basis to ensure continued regular air service where commercial operations alone may not sustain them. The action signals state support for connectivity, tourism flows and broader economic integration in a period of evolving aviation market dynamics.

Under the decree, the following international services will operate under the public interest regime: Podgorica to Brussels, Frankfurt, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam, Zagreb and Bari. The regulation specifies the exact airports in each destination that will be served, creating formal support for these strategic links over the next four years. With implementation set to begin ahead of the summer 2026 season, the responsible ministry will now initiate the necessary administrative and implementation procedures.
