Montenegro faces €1.43 billion debt blockades, top 10 debtors account for one-third of total

According to data from the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), by the end of April, over 20,960 companies and entrepreneurs had blocked accounts, a 0.02% increase compared to the end of March.

The total debt amount causing these blockages reached €1.43 billion, up 1.7% from March.

Debt concentration is high: the top 10 largest debtors, representing just 0.05% of all registered entities, account for 33.62% of the total blocked amount, with €479.94 million blocked.

Furthermore, the 50 largest debtors (0.24% of all registered) hold 52.38% of the total blocked debt, amounting to €747.72 million.

Regarding duration, 1,350 debtors have been continuously blocked for up to one year, with debts totaling €24.99 million (1.75% of the total blocked amount).

Meanwhile, 19,620 companies and entrepreneurs have been blocked for over a year, with blocked amounts totaling €1.4 billion.
