Transport Minister Maja Vukićević recently visited the construction site for the Jaz – Tivat project, an important infrastructure initiative. The project, which is being executed by the Traffic Administration in collaboration with the Regional Water Supply of the Montenegrin Coast, involves the reconstruction of a 16 km stretch of the main road from Tivat Airport to Jaz.

The plan includes a dual carriageway with two lanes measuring 3.25 meters in width for each direction, a 2-meter-wide median strip, and 2-meter-wide sidewalks on both sides. Additionally, twelve roundabouts and five three-way intersections will be constructed to enhance traffic flow at local junctions.

The project will also incorporate retaining walls, a stormwater drainage system with filters, and updated traffic signage for improved safety. A public lighting system will be installed along the entire length of the boulevard, along with the construction of a new regional water supply system.

The contract for the work was signed on March 29, 2023, with the Joint Venture of Shandong Foreign Economics & Technical Cooperation Co. Ltd. and Shandong Luqiao Group Co. Ltd. Funding for the reconstruction of the main road M-2, between Tivat and Budva (Jaz), as well as the new regional water supply system, has been secured through a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

During her meeting with the contractors, Minister Vukićević expressed her expectation that the renowned contractor would complete the project on time and to a high standard, significantly improving traffic flow and safety along this route.

The ongoing construction of the boulevard through Tivat and the bypass around Budva is anticipated to alleviate traffic congestion, particularly during the summer months and enhance connectivity between Tivat Airport and coastal towns.
