Tivat Airport welcomed the launch of a new Birmingham-Tivat route, following previous inaugurations from London Stansted and Izmir, announced by the National Tourism Organization (NTO).

Jet2 introduced the new route, with the NTO collaborating with Airports of Montenegro to organize a warm reception for arriving passengers.

Ana Tripković Marković, Director of NTO, emphasized the significance of Jet2’s expansion into Montenegro, considering it’s the largest British tour operator and a leading airline in the UK.

“Jet2 operates from 11 British cities, serving a market of 51 million people,” Tripković Marković highlighted.

She noted that the NTO, in partnership with Jet2, conducted an extensive marketing campaign in the UK market last year, participating in the annual event “A Night with the Stars” in Birmingham, attended by over a thousand travel agents directly selling Jet2 packages.

“This was an excellent opportunity to showcase Montenegro’s offerings,” Tripković Marković added.

Vladan Drašković, Acting CEO of Airports of Montenegro, shared news of another new route expected to open in June, connecting Tivat and Bristol, operated by easyJet.

“In practice, our synchronized institutional engagement aims to enhance Montenegro’s air accessibility,” Drašković stated.

Airports of Montenegro reported serving over half a million passengers from January 1 to April 28, marking a 30% increase compared to the same period in 2019.

Podgorica Airport experienced a remarkable 45% growth, serving over 400,000 passengers, while Tivat Airport, with over 105,000 passengers, achieved 91% of its pre-pandemic levels.
