Montenegro and Greece strengthen tourism ties at Ministers’ Summit

Tourism Minister Simonida Kordić and State Secretary Vuk Žižić met with Greece’s Tourism Minister Olga Kefalojani during the Ministers’ Summit in Costa Navarino.

The officials acknowledged that while the tourism relationship between Montenegro and Greece is positive, there is potential for further improvement. They agreed to pursue the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation, which Montenegro has submitted to Greece for review.

Kordić and Kefalojani emphasized the need for regional countries to consider a unified tourist strategy, particularly for attracting visitors from distant markets.

They also highlighted that Montenegro’s EU membership would enhance tourism development, facilitate greater tourist mobility, and strengthen bilateral relations in the tourism sector.

“We recognize the importance of diversifying our tourism offerings. Montenegro, like Greece, can provide the authentic experiences that modern travelers seek. As a candidate for EU accession, we value Greece’s support on this path,” Kordić noted.

Kefalojani reaffirmed Greece’s commitment to supporting Montenegro’s European integration, stressing the importance of fostering a favorable investment climate and increasing foreign direct investment.
