In March, the liquid assets of banks amounted to EUR 1.29 billion, marking a decrease of 13.69% compared to February. Year-on-year, liquid assets were down by 23.24%.
Liquidity ratios for the banking system as a whole remained above the required minimums on a daily and decade basis.
The total balance sheet of banks at the end of March was EUR 6.62 billion, reflecting a slight decrease of 0.68% from February, but an increase of 3.73% compared to the previous year.
Regarding the asset structure, total loans dominated at 64.33%, followed by securities at 20.38%, and cash and deposits with central banks at 13.97%. Other assets accounted for the remaining 1.32%.
In terms of liabilities, deposits held the largest share at 80.55%, followed by capital at 12.38%, and borrowings at 3.61%. Other liabilities represented 3.46% of total liabilities.
Total capital of banks at the end of March amounted to EUR 819.74 million, experiencing a monthly decline of 3.42%, yet showing a yearly growth of 14.58%.
