The Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG) is set to ramp up its investments in the country’s energy sector, as announced by the Chairman of the Board, Milutin Đukanović. He emphasized the necessity of securing as many “green” megawatts as possible, which represent clean energy for citizens and reduced harmful gas emissions.

During the Energy Week Western Balkans 2024 conference, taking place today and tomorrow at the Maestral Resort in Pržno, Đukanović highlighted that EPCG has signed memorandums with prestigious companies Hyundai and UGRT.

Đukanović underscored the importance of developing renewable energy sources, reiterating EPCG’s pivotal role in this process.

“EPCG has a clear policy with three key messages: produce where you consume, utilize hydroelectric infrastructure to connect solar plants, and develop battery energy storage systems,” noted Đukanović.

EPCG stated that Đukanović’s opening remarks at such an important international event reaffirm the company’s commitment to advancing the energy sector in line with modern global standards and trends.

The two-day conference will also discuss regional strategies for improving renewable energy sources in the Western Balkans, transitioning from coal to renewables and investments in resilience, renewable energy and storage technologies.
