Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG) is celebrating its 114th anniversary as a robust and creditworthy organization. Despite the challenges posed by the current energy climate, EPCG has managed to keep electricity prices stable, expand its customer base and enhance its social contributions through numerous donations across various sectors, including health, social services, culture and sports.

The company is making strides in its energy transition efforts with the development of solar and wind energy projects, aligning with Europe’s broader goal of achieving clean energy production by 2050. EPCG celebrates August 19 as its company day, honoring the historic moment in 1910 when King Nikola inaugurated Montenegro’s first electric power plant. This plant, built in celebration of King Nikola I Petrovic’s coronation in Cetinje, featured two 110 kW diesel engines that provided the town’s initial public electric lighting, marking Montenegro’s entry into a new era of technological progress.

From its origins as the “Montenegrin Electric Company” to its current status as EPCG, the company has grown significantly over the past 114 years. It has achieved notable milestones through grand power plant projects, the establishment of thermal power stations, the expansion of its distribution network, and numerous innovative projects. EPCG remains a cornerstone of both national and societal development, continuing to drive progress and meet the energy needs of Montenegro.
