Montenegro’s Energy Minister, Saša Mujović, announced that the Montenegrin Electricity Transmission System (CGES) will spearhead efforts to enhance regional cooperation among transmission system operators to bolster energy supply security for regional consumers.

Mujović presented this initiative during an informal meeting in Banja Luka, which received the endorsement of Artur Lorkowski, head of the Energy Community. The aim is to mitigate disruptions in electricity supply, such as the one that occurred on June 21st.

“The primary goal, and an interim step until regional countries transpose European regulations and establish coordinated cross-border capacity and security calculations (CCR and SOR), is to facilitate the implementation of redispatching (coordinated adjustment of power plant production to manage network congestion) as a remedial measure,” stated the announcement.

This initiative would significantly increase regional coordination and collaboration in ensuring the reliability of the electricity supply across the region.
