Since its launch, the Kotor – Lovćen cable car has welcomed over 100,000 visitors, marking a successful start to its first season. According to eKapija, the management is pleased with the turnout, noting that most visitors are from abroad, along with those from Montenegro and neighboring countries.

Located in one of Boka Bay’s most picturesque areas, the cable car features 48 gondolas and offers a remarkable experience for both tourists and locals. It can transport around 1,200 passengers per hour, with a 3,900-meter route that provides an 11-minute ride offering breathtaking views of the sea and the Bay of Kotor.

“This is our inaugural full season, which began on May 1. We are very satisfied with how things are going so far. The number of visitors is high and the feedback has been very positive. The complex offers a variety of amenities for families, individuals, and tourist groups. At the base station, visitors can find pastry shops, souvenir stores and a testing bar. At the top, there is a fantastic restaurant with a panoramic terrace, a small amphitheater, an alpine coaster (dry bob track), a square with shops and many other attractions,” said Director Marko Cus.

Cus highlighted the Alpine Coaster as a standout feature, noting it is the only one of its kind in Montenegro. He emphasized that the combination of the cable car ride and the thrilling dry bob track enhances the tourist experience.

“Our goal has always been to attract guests with a variety of attractions, not just the ride itself. We now offer a broader range of activities, including an exhilarating ride and fascinating attractions at the top. These features will likely ensure that visitors will want to return,” Cus added.

Cus also praised the collaboration with local tourism organizations, including the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro and the Kotor Tourism Organization, which has been instrumental in improving the tourism offering.

Local residents continue to show interest, and tourists from the region and Europe are frequently seen enjoying the cable car. A Cetinje resident, despite the proximity, mentioned that this was the first time he brought his family for a ride.

“This is incredible; finally, we have something like what we’ve seen in developed European destinations,” he said.

A young visitor from the Netherlands, on his first trip to Montenegro, expressed his enjoyment of the ride, despite the hot weather.

“I’m thrilled; the view is fantastic, and the natural scenery is amazing,” he said.

Until the end of August, children up to 12 years old can ride the cable car for free. Visitors are encouraged to purchase tickets online through the official website, kotorcablecar.com, to streamline their visit and benefit from significant discounts during promotional periods.

The cable car will celebrate its first anniversary on August 14, with additional events and special offers for visitors.

The Kotor – Lovćen cable car was constructed in just over a year, with the project carried out by the consortium Novi Volvox – Leitner. The concession agreement was signed in December 2021, and the cornerstone was laid on July 12, 2022.
