Tourism surge in Montenegro: Nearly 160,000 arrivals in May

In Montenegro, there were 159.84 thousand arrivals and 499.32 thousand overnight stays in collective accommodation in May, according to preliminary data from Monstat.

“Of the total number of overnight stays in collective accommodation, 87.6 percent were made by foreign tourists, while 12.4 percent were by domestic tourists,” the statement said. In the structure of overnight stays by type of tourist locations in May, the majority of overnight stays were in coastal areas, with 89.4 percent, followed by the capital with 6.1 percent, mountain areas with 2.4 percent, and other places with 2.1 percent.

Collective accommodation facilities include hotels, boarding houses, motels, tourist resorts, holiday homes, hostels, and campsites, and do not include individual, so-called private accommodation, which encompasses accommodation in houses and rooms for rent, as well as in tourist apartments.
