Montenegro’s IRF and Turkish Embassy collaborate for economic advancement

The Investment and Development Fund of Montenegro (IRF) and the Turkish Embassy are jointly committed to strengthening economic ties between the two nations, announced their representatives.

Nikola Tripković, IRF’s Executive Director, met with Bariş Kalkavan, the Turkish Ambassador to Montenegro, today to discuss collaboration.

During the meeting, Tripković emphasized IRF’s support for implementing high-quality, sustainable projects in Montenegro. He highlighted IRF’s evolution as an institution and its dedication to achieving strategic goals aligned with the country’s development priorities, particularly its transformation into Montenegro’s development bank.

Tripković also underscored the significance of IRF’s investment support for strategic projects and initiatives aimed at boosting the competitiveness of small and medium-sized enterprises, as well as preserving and creating jobs.

According to an IRF press release, discussions included initiatives and projects supported by the Turkish Embassy in Montenegro, spanning infrastructure, healthcare, education, and the advancement of Montenegro as a regional business hub.

Kalkavan expressed satisfaction with the meeting, praising the excellent relations between Turkey and Montenegro. He also introduced the activities of the Turkish Chamber of Commerce in Montenegro – TurkCham Montenegro, facilitating connections between Turkish companies in Montenegro and local entities engaging with Turkey.

The gathering acknowledged the significant economic impact of Montenegro’s foreign trade with Turkey, which totaled over €204 million in the previous year. Notably, Turkish citizens own the majority of foreign companies in Montenegro, comprising 3,770 Turkish firms, according to official data.
