Consumer prices in rise 1.2% in October, inflation remains moderate

Consumer prices in Montenegro, measured by the consumer price index (CPI), increased by 1.2% in October compared to the same period last year, according to data from the Statistical Office of Montenegro (Monstat).

In comparison to September, consumer prices remained stable in October, showing no significant change. However, they rose by an average of 2.1% compared to December of the previous year. From January to October, consumer prices increased by an average of 3.6% compared to the same period in 2023.

Breaking down the price changes by major product and service categories, the highest increases were seen in the “Clothing and Footwear” group, up by 3.8%, followed by “Furniture, Household Equipment and Routine Home Maintenance” (0.4%), “Health” (0.3%), and “Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas, and Other Fuels” (0.1%).

On the other hand, the categories showing price decreases included “Restaurants and Hotels” (-3%), “Transport” (-1%), “Other Goods and Services” (-0.6%), “Recreation and Culture” (-0.2%), as well as “Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco” and “Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages,” both down by 0.1%.

Prices of other products and services showed no significant changes during the month.
