Montenegro signs economic cooperation memorandum with the United States

The Vice President for Economic Policy and Minister of Economic Development, Nik Đeljošaj, is leading a delegation from Montenegro on an official visit to Washington, where he will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on economic cooperation between the Government of Montenegro and the United States on October 21.

The memorandum will be signed on behalf of the U.S. government by Hose V. Fernandez, Under Secretary for Economic Growth, Energyand the Environment.

Joining Đeljošaj in the delegation are Minister of Energy Saša Mujović, Minister of Maritime Affairs Filip Radulović, Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj, and Minister of Mining, Oil and Gas Admir Šahmanović.

Ahead of the visit, Đeljošaj stated that the signing of the memorandum will lay a strong foundation for future economic collaboration and the realization of mutually beneficial projects.

“This memorandum symbolizes Montenegro’s pro-Western and Euro-Atlantic orientation. I am truly proud to have the opportunity to solidify our country’s western path by upholding the best American and democratic values,” he remarked.

He added, “October 21, 2024, will forever institutionalize the economic relationships between the U.S. and Montenegro in areas such as investment, projects, tourism, technology and infrastructure, reaffirming our sincere partnership and alliance.”
