Montenegro, Banks’ liquid assets in August were 29.63% higher compared to the same month last year

Banks’ liquid assets in August amounted to EUR 1.87 billion, which is 13.16% more than in July, according to data from the Central Bank (CBCG).

Liquidity coefficients for the banking system as a whole were above the prescribed minimums, on a daily and decadal level.
The balance sheet total of banks at the end of August amounted to EUR 6.02 billion and recorded an increase of 3.72% compared to July, while compared to August last year it increased by 16.76%.
In the structure of banks’ assets, in August the dominant share of 60.58% was achieved by total loans, followed by cash and deposit accounts with central banks with 25.77%, securities with 12.72%, while 0.93 % related to the remaining assets.
In the structure of liabilities, the dominant share of 80.47% was achieved by deposits, followed by capital with 10.14%, loans with 6.24%, while other items accounted for 3.15% of total liabilities.
The total capital of banks at the end of August amounted to EUR 610.32 million and registered an increase of 1.35% on a monthly basis, and a decrease of 3.07% on an annual basis, local media reports.
