Montenegro and Slovenia strengthen cooperation to modernize employment policies and align with EU standards

Montenegro’s Minister of Labor, Employment and Social Dialogue, Naida Nišić, highlighted the importance of Slovenia’s expertise and support in modernizing Montenegro’s employment policies and aligning them with European Union standards.

A bilateral meeting was held between the two countries to enhance cooperation in the field of employment. The Slovenian delegation was led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Labor, Family, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, Luka Mesec.

Nišić emphasized the long-standing and strong partnership with Slovenia, which has contributed to tangible results in developing and strengthening Montenegro’s labor market through institutional collaboration, knowledge exchange, and expert support.

Training programs, joint projects, and expert documents developed with Slovenian assistance—especially through the employment agencies of both countries—have significantly advanced Montenegro’s methodologies for working with the unemployed and professional rehabilitation.

Mesec affirmed Slovenia’s commitment to supporting Montenegro’s European integration and offered continued expert assistance to help Montenegro meet final requirements in the EU accession negotiations.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepen institutional cooperation, enhance labor mobility, and improve workforce protection to benefit both nations.
