Montenegro and Croatia strengthen financial cooperation and EU integration support

Ahead of the annual meeting of the Belgian-Dutch Constituency of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, Montenegro’s Minister of Finance, Novica Vuković, met in Luxembourg with Croatia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Marko Primorac.

The ministers reaffirmed the strong and constructive long-term cooperation between the two countries’ finance ministries, emphasizing it as a model of good neighborly relations in the region. During the meeting, they exchanged experiences on issuing government bonds for citizens, a practice Croatia successfully implemented. Minister Primorac expressed full support for Montenegro’s upcoming citizen bond issuance, aimed at involving the public in financing national development.

Minister Vuković highlighted Croatia’s EU experience and technical assistance as valuable support for Montenegro’s reform efforts and EU accession path. The two ministries have collaborated in areas such as tax policy and capacity building through EU-funded programs and expert exchanges.

The meeting also welcomed the recent signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Customs Administrations of Montenegro and Croatia, which strengthens enforcement of customs regulations and enhances regional security and financial protection.
