Montenegrin banks show growth in liquid assets and capital at end of May

At the end of May, banks’ liquid assets amounted to €1.39 billion, marking a 5.3% increase compared to April. Compared to May of the previous year, liquid assets were 4.62% higher.

Liquidity ratios for the banking system, both daily and over ten-day periods, remained above the required minimums.

The total balance sheet of banks reached €7.33 billion at the end of May, showing a slight monthly growth of 1.53% and a yearly increase of 10.19%.

In the asset structure, net loans dominated with a 68.23% share, followed by securities at 17.28%, cash and deposits with central banks at 11.03%, and other assets accounting for 3.46%.

On the liabilities side, deposits were dominant at 76.99%, followed by capital at 12.92%, borrowings at 5.82%, and other liabilities at 4.27%.

Total bank capital stood at €947.57 million at the end of May, increasing by 0.71% monthly and 11.88% annually.
