Miloš Konatar, head of the URA parliamentary group, said that the recent International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission report exposed the real state of public finances in Montenegro, calling the situation serious and worrying. He stressed that responsible officials should carefully analyze the IMF’s findings and introduce measures to address financial challenges and lay the foundation for long-term reforms.

Konatar criticized Prime Minister Spajić’s government, saying it behaves like “an ostrich with its head in the sand,” waiting for problems to resolve on their own. He argued that Montenegro needs a change in economic policy.

According to him, the country requires serious and responsible leadership to stabilize public finances, curb uncontrolled price growth, raise living standards through stronger economic activity, diversify the economy, build a stable business environment and independent institutions, attract new investments in infrastructure, and promote digitalization, innovation, and the green economy.
