French companies showed interest in Montenegrin infrastructure

French companies are interested in implementing projects that contribute to the improvement of Montenegrin infrastructure, it was announced during the visit of representatives of the Association of French-Montenegrin companies to the Investment and Development Fund.

As it was announced, the director of the IRF, Irena Radović, spoke with the president of the Association, Rajko Uskoković, and the ambassador of France in Montenegro, Kristijan Timonije.

Timonje expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation and implementation of France’s support to Montenegro by prioritizing the ecological transition, areas in which the French Development Agency (AFD) has many years of experience and expertise.

– The interest of French companies in the implementation of projects that contribute to the improvement of Montenegrin infrastructure as one of the prerequisites for the further development of the economy in accordance with the goals of sustainable development has been expressed – it is stated in the announcement.

Uskoković said that the purpose of the Association’s existence is to strengthen the economic cooperation between the two friendly countries, and in that sense he emphasized the importance of today’s meeting. Uskoković presented the Association’s activities, plans for the upcoming period and interest in a credit arrangement between AFD and IRF, in the context of strengthening economic cooperation between the Republic of France and Montenegro.

Radović pointed out the importance and potential of the existing financial framework with AFD, and the necessity of synergy in the development of sustainable business, which will be based on the efficient use of resources and the application of ESG standards.

She expressed satisfaction that IRF was recognized as a partner financial institution with a strong role and potential for cooperation in the field of green transition of Montenegrin society, as well as economic empowerment of vulnerable categories of society, women, youth, and the development of Montenegrin municipalities below the development average.

The meeting also discussed the dynamics of planned activities related to the development of a green financing strategy in the context of AFD technical support, with a focus on the importance of joint action at the national and local level, in order to achieve synergy in achieving climate goals.
