Serbian Electric Power Industry (EPS) is exploring cooperation with the Port of Bar to improve coal unloading and transportation, aiming to diversify logistics for this critical energy resource. During a meeting between EPS General Director Dušan Živković and Port of Bar Executive Director Ilija Pješčić, the focus was on enhancing collaboration between the two entities.

Currently, imported coal from Indonesia arrives via the Romanian port of Constanta, but low water levels on the Danube during poor hydrological conditions pose challenges. To ensure uninterrupted coal supply to TENT power plant stockpiles and maintain energy security, EPS identified the Port of Bar as an alternative unloading site.

EPS and Port of Bar management discussed the port’s capacities for coal reception, storage, and logistics. The first Indonesian coal shipment is expected to arrive at Bar in early September. It was agreed that coal transport from Bar to TENT will be conducted by rail in cooperation with Serbian partner Serbia Cargo and Montenegrin company AD Montekargo Podgorica.
