The Electric Power Company of Montenegro (EPCG) is a regional leader in the green transition, and EPCG Solar Gradnja stands as proof of the company’s strategic vision for Montenegro to become an energy-independent and economically strong nation, said Milutin Đukanović, Chairman of the EPCG Board of Directors.

According to a statement from EPCG, Đukanović made the remarks at the ceremony marking the fourth anniversary of EPCG Solar Gradnja’s establishment.

“EPCG Solar Gradnja represents the confirmation of EPCG’s strategic vision for Montenegro to achieve energy sovereignty and economic strength, relying on its own resources and the expertise of domestic professionals,” said Đukanović.

He emphasized that EPCG, together with Solar Gradnja, has made a significant contribution to the energy and green transition. “Our key objective is to secure stable jobs and ensure the production of affordable electricity,” he added.

Đukanović announced that by the end of the year, Solar Gradnja will have nearly 200 MW of new electricity generation capacity from solar and wind sources. “To make full use of this potential, a strong development of battery storage systems is necessary. The combination of solar, wind, and battery technologies guarantees a stable electricity price and, at times, may even lead to lower costs,” he explained.

He highlighted that EPCG is recognized as a regional leader in the green transition and revealed the possibility of building solar power plants with capacities of several hundred megawatts. “Today, Solar Gradnja can build a turnkey solar power plant—from foundation to grid connection. I am convinced that the company’s golden era is ahead,” Đukanović concluded, expressing gratitude to the employees of EPCG Solar Gradnja for their dedication and achievements over the past four years.

The Mayor of Nikšić, Marko Kovačević, stated that EPCG Solar Gradnja is an example of a successful link between industrial development and energy transition and represents a new driving force in the city’s economy.

“All the results achieved by this company deserve respect. Today, Solar Gradnja holds the position once occupied by the Bauxite Mine and the Steel Plant in Nikšić—as a symbol of new industry and development,” said Kovačević.

He added that the company not only brings new value to the energy sector but also creates opportunities for young people and women to demonstrate their leadership skills.
