Budva Mayor cites infrastructure and tax hikes as key challenges for tourism season

Budva Mayor Nikola Jovanović highlighted key challenges facing this year’s tourist season, pointing to infrastructure works and road closures that hindered access for traditional visitors. He stressed that state institutions were poorly prepared, with delays in beach lease tenders creating uncertainty, legal ambiguities, and higher costs for services such as beach bars and equipment rentals.

Jovanović also criticized the increase of the tourism tax from 7% to 15%, noting that this effectively doubled charges and made Budva less competitive compared to other destinations. He emphasized that these lessons must be addressed to ensure a better-prepared tourist season next year.
