Bar-Boljare highway sees over 1 million vehicles in early 2025: Key facts and infrastructure

Since the beginning of this year, 1.08 million vehicles have passed through the Princess Ksenija highway, according to Monteput data.

In comparison, the highway saw 2.87 million vehicles in 2021, 2.29 million in 2023, and 1.14 million in 2022.

The priority section of the Bar-Boljare highway was officially opened on July 13, 2022, and opened for traffic the next day.

Toll fees started after a free first week: €1.5 for motorcycles, €3.5 for passenger cars, and €17 for trucks and buses.

The first section of the highway is 41.5 kilometers long, featuring 20 main bridges, nine ramp bridges, two overpasses, eight underpasses, 7.2 kilometers of concrete walls, and 16 twin-tube tunnels.

It includes four interchanges with toll booths connecting the highway to existing roads at Smokovac, Pelev Brijeg, Veruša and Mateševo.

The maximum speed limit on the highway is 100 km/h.
