American Rockies Venture Fund believes in Montenegro’s potential

The representative of one of the largest American funds – Rockies Venture Fund, Peter Adams, announced the opening of the first VC fund in Montenegro and pointed out that he really believes in the potential that Montenegro offers. It was also announced that 30 investors from the USA will come to Montenegro in September.

This was announced at the fourth Digital Den connects conference, called Synergies, which brought together experts and venture capital funds from the United States of America (USA), representatives of the American Embassy in Montenegro and the Montenegrin Government, business, startup and NGO community of Montenegro.

The conference announced that the Law on Incentive Measures for the Development of Research and Innovation has worked and the startup community in Montenegro has a clear future. The founders of Digital Den, Darko Ivanović and Nenad Novović, presented the results and goals of the Digital Den startup hub, as well as MOSS (Mountains of opportunities and sea of ​​success) – a brand that promotes and presents Montenegro with mountains of opportunities and a sea of ​​success.

Digital Den announced that Ivanović and Novović presented certificates of appreciation to the representatives of the largest Montenegrin companies, which invested a total of EUR 1.87 million in eight startups from the Digital Den portfolio in December with their pioneering ventures.

MOSS is the way we can attract more people to Montenegro, attract capital, and I deeply believe that Montenegro can do that thanks to Digital Den – said Adams.

Representatives of the Government, the Ministries of Finance and Science and Technological Development, Agron Ibrahimi and Nevena Radović participated in the first panel. Digital Dena states that they directly contributed to the implementation of the Law on Incentive Measures for the Development of Research and Innovation.

The general conclusion of all present was that the Law has worked and that the startup community has a clear future. The second round of investments is eagerly awaited, and now there is solid cooperation between investors, the state and the innovative community – the announcement states.

It Is added that representatives of the Montenegrin business community who were some of the investors in Digital Den’s portfolio in December last year participated in the panel – Miloš Miketić in front of Addiko Bank, Ivan Petrović in front of Apex Capital Partners and Miloš Komnenić from Komnenić Law Office & Associates.

John Zozzaro of Austin-based Funded House announced bringing in 30 investors from the US in September. Microsoft’s global infrastructure director Jeremy Goldberg, as reported, spoke about the importance of AI technology, artificial intelligence in solving everyday problems and building a bridge between large corporations and ordinary users.

The Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Mijat Jocović, and the President of the Entrepreneurial Nest at the University of Donja Gorica (UDG) in Marko Nišavić, announced at the second panel the creation of startup factories within the university, which will later be connected to the bridge that Digital Den is building.

The meeting was attended by about 100 officials, investors, innovators and representatives of venture capital funds from abroad. Digital Den cooperates with the Faculty of Economics and Biotechnology, as well as with UDG.

Digital Den said that one of the key factors for the improvement and functionality of the startup ecosystem is cooperation with colleges and universities, because they are the source of creative and innovative ideas.

We believe that in this way existing startups will receive adequate support and that the favorable environment will be an incentive for the creation of new ones – the announcement states. As stated, this cooperation entails the establishment, improvement and promotion of the entrepreneurial spirit in Montenegro, through the implementation of numerous joint activities and initiatives of Digital Den.
