Consumer prices in Montenegro: September overview

In September, consumer prices in Montenegro, as measured by the consumer price index, rose by an average of 1% compared to the same month last year, according to Monstat data.

However, there was a monthly decline of 0.4% in consumer prices compared to August.

The decrease in the monthly inflation rate was primarily influenced by falling prices in several categories, including milk, cheese, and eggs; fuel and lubricants for vehicles; fruits; and accommodation services.

From January to September, consumer prices saw an average increase of 3.9% compared to the same period in the previous year.

Examining the main categories of products and services, September showed price increases compared to the previous month in the following areas: clothing and footwear (3.9%), other goods and services (1%), education (0.9%), housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (0.8%), communications (0.6%), and recreation and culture (0.3%).

Conversely, price reductions were noted in transport (1.8%), food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.7%), restaurants and hotels (1.3%), furniture, household equipment, and routine home maintenance (0.8%), as well as alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.1%).

Overall, prices for other products and services remained relatively stable without significant changes.
