Construction season resumes in Budva amid waste management challenges

At the beginning of October, construction season resumed in the municipality of Budva, with around 50 active construction sites currently complying with technical requirements. However, illegal disposal of construction waste remains a significant issue, according to Vladan Braunović, head of the Communal Inspection, in an interview with Radio Budva.

“We have exclusive zones here—first, second, third, and fourth. Construction work in the second, third, and fourth zones began on September 15, while the exclusive and first zones started on October 1. After responsible parties adhered to the ban on construction during the summer tourist season, our inspectors halted further operations,” Braunović explained.

Although work commenced as scheduled, communal inspectors faced numerous challenges due to irregularities at construction sites.

“We had to seal several sites for failing to comply with the regulations, but following the suspension of work, we continued our oversight,” he added.

The primary concern during the construction season is the inadequate disposal of construction waste.

“Our service conducts frequent inspections, but due to a limited number of authorized personnel, we strive to maximize our efforts. When we catch offenders in the act, we immediately take administrative measures,” Braunović emphasized.

Penalties for illegal waste disposal are strict—500 euros for legal entities, 30 euros for responsible individuals, and fines of 150 euros for entrepreneurs.
