This year’s summer season posed challenges but was successfully concluded from a safety perspective, stated Filip Radulović, Montenegro’s Minister of Maritime Affairs, following a meeting with representatives of the Port Authority in Kotor.

Radulović reflected on issues related to violations by vessel operators and announced plans for stricter controls and increased penalties for offenders in the upcoming year.

“We witnessed significant instances of speed violations by vessels in the Bay of Kotor this year. This practice must end, and I assure you that starting next year, we will implement new systems to monitor vessel speeds,” said Radulović.

He also highlighted that there was an increase in traffic at the ports during this year’s season.

During the meeting, Radulović and Kotor Port Captain Mirko Fuštić discussed challenges facing the port authority, including environmental concerns and navigation safety. The Minister emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts to address these challenges to ensure safety and preserve the natural beauty of Montenegro’s coast.

“As a key part of our preparations for the next season, we agreed to enhance infrastructure capacity and increase the promotion of Montenegrin ports as attractive destinations for nautical tourism,” Radulović added.

Radulović and the Port Authority representatives agreed on the necessity of continuing regular meetings to address issues promptly and improve collaboration.
