The Andrijevica municipality is set to enhance its tourism appeal with the upcoming construction of an eco-catun on the slopes of Mount Rujišta. Local authorities have confirmed that preliminary work for this initiative is already underway, aiming to attract more visitors to the picturesque mountain areas beneath Komovi and Bjelasica.
Miloš Čukić, the municipality manager, announced that the conceptual design for the eco-catun, located above Mount Gradišnjica, has been approved by the chief city architect. The project is now moving forward with the development of the detailed plans. The government has approved funding for the project, valued at approximately €260,000, with work to be carried out in phases. This year, the municipality has secured €10,000 for initial preparations, with additional funds to be allocated as the project progresses.
The planned eco-catun, situated about 14 kilometers from Andrijevica, is expected to become a major attraction. The area offers stunning views and easy access to the Komovi and Bjelasica mountains. The eco-catun will feature four cabins, a restaurant, and an observation point. Čukić emphasized that this project will greatly benefit both the municipality and local residents, significantly boosting the region’s tourism sector.
In addition to the eco-catun, the local government is working on connecting key mountain hubs within Andrijevica to enhance the overall tourist experience. Renovation work is underway at the Krivi Do mountain lodge, which will soon welcome hikers, and the Štavna eco-catun at the base of Komovi has been leased to a well-known company. The Adventure Center Mojan and its hostel have also become popular among nature enthusiasts this year.
Moreover, there is a plan to repurpose former military outposts in the villages of Đuliće and Kuti. The local government is advocating for the transformation of these abandoned sites into tourist facilities, aiming to leverage these properties to boost the local tourism industry.
