Between May 1 and August 4, tax inspectors have collected more than €700,000 in fines, as reported by the Tax Administration (PU).
During the summer tourist season, the PU’s operational inspection sector enhanced its efforts to monitor the compliance of seasonal businesses, with a focus on the hospitality and retail industries.
- Throughout this period, tax inspectors carried out 2,320 inspections of businesses and identified irregularities with 322 taxpayers, according to the report.
As a result, 437 violation notices were issued, totaling €1.46 million in fines.
Of the fines imposed, €852,790 was required, with €700,090 already collected, representing 82% of the total.
- The collected fines relate to taxpayers who admitted their violations and paid their fines within eight days, totaling 249 cases – PU representatives specified.
During this period, 17 taxpayers faced temporary bans on conducting their business.
The identified issues include failure to properly record sales of goods and services, not depositing revenue exceeding the cash register limit, not reporting employees, and operating without general tax registration.
The PU continues to monitor taxpayer compliance through detailed accounting audits and inspections of specific business operations.
