Maja Vukićević, the Minister of Transportation, has voiced strong support for the leadership of Airports of Montenegro (ACG), including Chairwoman Jelena Maraš and Executive Director Roko Tolić, in their initiative to enhance the country’s air connectivity starting next year.

During a meeting with ACG officials at the Ministry of Transport in Podgorica, Vukićević emphasized the dual importance of business acumen and public interest in the management of state-owned enterprises.

“While ACG is notable for its strong financial performance, it is also essential that the company serves the broader interests of the public,” Vukićević said.

She highlighted that the Ministry is backing ACG’s proposal to adjust airport fees to restore and expand connections with European destinations during the winter months and to attract new airlines. The expected results from these measures are anticipated for the upcoming year, as the team prepares for the new season.

Vukićević also noted that ACG should no longer shoulder the financial burden alone and called for increased support from the business sector.

“I remind you that in 2022 and the previous year, ACG provided airlines with EUR 17.6 million in discounts through the Incentive Scheme. I now expect the business community to contribute to this effort,” she stated.

Jelena Maraš emphasized the need for coordinated efforts between ACG, the Ministry and the Government.

“We are united in our objectives, and our communication must be effective. We appreciate Minister Vukićević for paving the way for improved collaboration,” Maraš remarked.

Roko Tolić agreed, noting that government support for both public and business interests is crucial.

“When the government recognizes and supports both public interests and business efforts, it sets the stage for success, and I believe this will lead to positive outcomes,” Tolić commented.

From January 1 to the end of July, ACG has served over 1.5 million passengers, a 17 percent increase compared to the same period last year and an 11 percent rise compared to 2019.
