The National Tourism Organization of Montenegro (NTO CG) is optimistic about the start of the summer tourist season, with current figures showing that Montenegro has welcomed 60,784 tourists, according to Dragica Rašković, a spokesperson for the organization. She highlighted that recent surveys conducted within the tourism industry have indicated overall satisfaction with the season’s beginning.

“Survey results have shown that the majority of participants view the outlook positively. Over 80% believe that forecasts are as good as or better than last year. Promising forecasts are particularly noted from the United Kingdom, Germany, and France, with increased interest also seen from Baltic countries, Scandinavian nations, and Poland,” she said.

Montenegro has consistently ranked among the top 10 destinations on European travel platforms for two consecutive years, as reported in the European Commission’s monthly travel reports.

“We achieved a strong fourth position in the April report, and we anticipate continued positive ratings throughout the summer,” Rašković added.

Unofficial reports from local tourism organizations suggest that as of June 13, Montenegro has seen a 6.65% increase in tourist arrivals compared to the same period last year, slightly surpassing figures from 2019.

“We’ve observed significant growth in tourist numbers in municipalities like Budva and Herceg Novi, with Herceg Novi specifically noting a 23% increase in arrivals compared to last year. The majority of tourists continue to come from the UK, Germany, and France,” Rašković highlighted.

NTO CG has actively conducted promotional activities across various markets, including hosting a Destination Forum that attracted 60 prominent German tour operators, journalists, and travel agents who explored Montenegro’s tourism offerings over five days.

“In addition, we’ve made significant strides in the UK market. Last month, as part of our collaboration with BBC’s Travel Show, which reaches over 70 million viewers weekly, Montenegro was featured in an entire episode,” Rašković noted.

Through participation in numerous trade fairs, media visits, influencer engagements, and targeted marketing campaigns, NTO CG has promoted Montenegro effectively in approximately 25 countries. This year, there is a strong emphasis on digital promotion channels, with a significant portion of the budget allocated to this strategy, according to the organization.
